Just testing the water here. I have a Ruger M77 in 7x57 with the tang safety. Is there a build possible here or should I just hold out for a Rem action and just sell the ruger out right. What I would be looking for is a long range deer rifle.

Why is it not a long ranhe deer rifle now? Not familiar with the 7x57 round. Could ya just rebarrel to a caliber that suits you more? What are you looking for in a build other than a long range deer rifle?

From my shooting it is a pretty good shooter. I guess I would just like to know if and what calibers could poss. be made out of that rifle that would be an improvement. I would like a good 500yd rifle but I am just testing the water on a rebuild if possible or just buy a bigger rifle. They say this thing is pretty close to 7-08.

I imagine it would take alot of gunsmithing to get that action to accept a WSM. I know it would take a different bolt. If the 7x57 equates the 7mm-08, I would stick with it. I would reload my own and find a load it likes.

The 7x57 is a great round. For a cheap, easy conversion I think it can be rechambered for .280 Rem. If you reload you could go to .280 AI. I've got a MK II in .280 and I love it.

Ok thanks guys I may just trade it I have it on here just not quite sure what to do with it. I have alot of rifles just don't use that one much. It is very accurate with my hand loads. I killed three deer in one hunt with it two years ago all of them were nice big does.
