Got an email from Academy Sports that said you can now order guns online from Academy. I stop tonight at the one in Gulfport on the way to work and talk to the guy back at the gun counter and said yeah they got a deal with Sports South in Louisiana. You go to the Academy web site find the gun you want and pick out which Academy store you want it sent to and you pay online. It ships free to the store and they do the FFL transfer when you pick it up. He said no charge for FFL transfer you just pick up the gun and go. Whats funny is I went online to try it and when it got to the payment part it said you could use paypal. I wonder how long it will take paypal to figure out there accepting payment online for guns at Academy. :lol3:

I've bought other merchandise from Academy on line and used PayPal to finish the transaction. All PayPal knows that its a merchandise transaction, they don't care what kind of merchandise it is, they get their cut of the pie.
Yeah paypal cares or they wouldn't freeze accounts when they find out the payment is for guns or gun goods.

I've ordered a lot of 22s lately from academy. Free shipping and used PayPal to avoid wife from knowing.
Yes indeed this has possibilities. Though have to drive 30 minutes to save $25. And can't go on my lunch break. But if can use PayPal. And PayPal has zero interest 6 month payment plan. Oh yeah

I scrolled through the offerings some last night, and came across a Marlin 1894 lever rifle in .44 Magnum. They also had it in .44 Long Colt (certainly a typo), and the Model 336 Large-Loop in .30-30 caliber. I was wanting one in .357, but the .44 Mag would be my 2nd choice. All were only $499 each, which I thought wasn't too bad. Especially if I can use Paypal's 6-months same-as-cash option.

I took a look at the website. I gotta tell ya, the prices and selection are not switching me on.
I'd have to agree , just looked. Some of the prices are good. The levers for $500 , the CZ scout for $300 and a couple others. But for the most part you could order from Buds and pay a FFL and still be cheaper.

Plus as of now you want be paying any tax from Buds. Also I found an FFL in Wiggins that will do transfers for $10 and free for first responders.
