Mailed my order off to CMP today, now the wait begins...2 - 3 weeks probably. Hope I get as lucky as I did with the Garand I got from them. Merry Christmas to me!

I need a scope for this bad boy, something I know next to nothing about. Looking at catalogs and internet makes my eyes glaze over and my head spin. Too many choices, too little knowledge. Power, reticle, rings...ughh. I would think since we only looking at a 100 yards or so, and it's a .22, I should be able to get something pretty decent for under $200, but what?

Then there's mounting. Since this rifle was designed with the snazzy iron sights, I assume it must be drilled & tapped?

Come on, guys, help me out. The clocks tickin...

The kimbers have a 3/8 dovetail mount that you can get rings for no need to drill and tap. I put a BSA Platnum 6-24 with fine retical. Clear scope no complaints has 1/8 MOA adjustments with target turrets. Natches has them on sale to the end of the year for $59.99. Regular price is $120.
Come on out saturday and send a few rounds downrange with mine and see how you like my scope.

Shooter - I put a Simmons 6.5x20 on my Kimber ... After trying to hit that small X (or 10-ring) on these 600yrd reduced targes, I would probably opt for the 24x if I were to do it again ... the thinner the reticle the better, IMHO - Mildot may be a hassle and somewhat a distraction ...

get the fine reticle..I thought the mildot would just get in the way on what we are shooting...U don't need to do holdover shooting with a 22 at 100...So whatever power choice you think you need...only $10 diff between a 6-24x50 and a 8-32x50 BSA Platinum

comes with a long and short sunshade....has a AO...no side focus

I don't see how Natchez makes any $ on these

Natchez must be out of the 6-24x44 fine reticles they only show a mil dot on their website. I am going to go with the 8-32x44 fine reticle might as well it's not but 10 bucks higher like Neck said. I going to take the 3x9 off my rifle and throw on the Simmons 4x12 I just got in for this weekend.

Well, I ordered the one in the link above. I think Natchez's website was wrong in indicating it as Mil Dot, checked BSA site for that model number. I'll know for sure in a few days :p

Still need info on the mounts.

Thanks guys, you sure make it easy to spend money.

Wish I could check it out Saturday, but if I don't go to work I can't buy new toys.

Neck got some burris mounts that worked fine. He can give the info. I had a set of weaver mount rings I wasn't using so I got a adapter from Midway.http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=563030 And used my rings. Whichever you get make sure you get tall enough for the bolt handle to clear. Also I put a .020" shim under the rear ring to get enough elevation for 100 yards.

Shoe....Natchez had their descriptions of the scopes backasswards when I ordered...in other words I keyed in the code for the fine reticle and it came up with the mil-dot in the description....

i got what i wanted....the fine ret.

what i got is a 44 mm obj

pt832x44ts

depending on your ring height...for bolt clearance..you'll need to shim probably....go high on the rings 1/8 dovetail which is common for rimfire...Vans had the Burris high rings...They were higher than my extra high Leupolds

The problem with the Kimbers is that they do not have 3/8 dovetail grooves cut into the receivers. They have 11mm grooves cut into the receivers so that European target sights can be mounted on them. Most 3/8 mount rings will fit but a lot of them won't line the scope up in the correct axis with the barrel. BKL makes both 2 piece ring mounts and one piece ring mounts for the 11mm grooves on the Kimber receiver. The problem that I had with the BKL261 model was not enough elevation to zero at 50 yds and I had to shim the scope on the rear ring. Three strips of electrical tape in the bottom section of the rear ring worked nicely with the top rings snugged down barely tight to prevent warping the scope tube. I have since ordered the BKL254D7 drop compensated mount but it hasen't been delivered to me yet. It's supposed to be in this coming Tuesday.
