I'm headed to Atlanta for a few days and will be spending a bit of time in the downtown area. I know that most southern states reconize each others CC permits but would you really carry a concealed weapon in downtown Atlanta. I've always taken it with me but haven't taken it out on my person. Just wanted to get opinions. Also, I can't find the information on which states honor what others states permits. Could someone help me out.

I guess my question really would be does the reciprocal agreements mean that a person can carry any where in GA. that they could carry in MS. What I'm trying to do is making sure I'm not going to run afoul of the law and cause myself any undue legal problems. I've looked a the GA gun laws and I don't see anything that would lead me to believe I can't carry anywhere over there that I can here.

If you go to the state in questions weapons permit website you can find the laws stating where you can and can not legally carry in that area. Would google georgia weapons permit or georgia weapons law and I bet it would take you to the page you need.

There are several sources for this as seen in the posts above.

In addition you might try: http://legallyarmed.com
And scroll down to "TO SEE WHAT STATES HONOR ANOTHER STATES LICENSE OR PERMIT TO CARRY, CLICK ON STATE"

Or go to: http://www.usconcealedcarry.com/index.htm
There’s a big box to the right. Don’t know if you need membership to access that.

These are mostly a repeat of an earlier posting.

Take a look at “Vehicle Carry” topic in the ‘Gun Shop : Handguns’ forum. I made a posting 5/12/10, ‘Re: Reciprocity’.

I'd check Atlanta law, you know how some larger cities have different laws, or different interpretations of them than the state. Atlanta is about as liberal a city as you will find south of D.C. Carry when you can but don't risk a firearms arrest. Like Joe and others have said, google the laws.

Would you really go Skydiving without a Parachute
Big question should be How Many Guns to cary!!!

Check here for current ATL Crime Stats... http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/ga/atlanta/crime/

on a scale of Safety 1-100 (100 being safest) Atlanta is a 1

and here are some older stats on Georgia as a whole:

Firearm-Related Death in Georgia

In 1996 Georgia ranked 11th in rate of firearm-related death, with a rate of 16.94 per 100,000. In 1996 the national rate of firearm-related death was 12.94 per 100,000.2

In 1996 Georgia ranked ninth in rate of firearm-related homicide, with a rate of 7.61 per 100,000. In 1996 the national rate of firearm-related homicide was 6.02 per 100,000.3

In 1996 Georgia ranked 21st in rate of firearm-related suicide,, with a rate of 8.27 per 100,000. In 1996 the national rate of firearm-related suicide was 6.29 per 100,000.4

Always keep em Condition 1. The ONLY way it will do any good! Common Sense is your friend. Be safe and be aware. Atlanta can be a great place to visit. Lots to do. That also makes it a target rich environment for the criminal type.

I carried mine while I was in Atlanta. Need to be careful though if you go into a mall. Also the Atlanta mayor has an issue with anybody (other than ON Duty LEO) carring in the airport. Even in the unscured area. What do you carry?

If Atlanta is a 1 (lowest possible on scale) I would would not go....

surely its not worse than Memphis? , the home invasion capitol of the South...

and I thought "Jafrica" (Jackson) was bad....
go check out the scout site.. i think Jac town was at 5% on the crime index and Memphis is a 2% !! kinda puts it in perspective

my chance of becoming a victim of crime here in Poplarville is 1 in 510 while in the ATL its 1 in 52 !! 10X greater chance of :shtf2:
