What do I need to look for in a spotting scope for 50-300 yd shooting down to a 223? What power and who makes a good one for around $250, or are the ones in that range POS's? May even go the used route. Does the recticle size make that much a difference shooting in broad daylight. Would be for the range only so light intake is not that big a deal.
This has probably been asked before but I couldn't find a match.

You could try a Konus. Seeing .223 holes at 200 yards can be difficult even with the best spotting scope.

At 300 yards is nearly impossible.

With the glass you get what you pay for in quality but buying pricey optics isn't going to guarantee you the ability to resolve .223 holes at 300 yards.
