Now my Springfield won't be so lonely...

West German made P228, was one of those deals that you could no walk by. On another good note, my carry permit arrived today on the 45th day after I requested it, right on the money. Good day indeed.

Thanks. The only thing I didn't like as much on the P228 (as compared to my Springfield) is the grip. I've been spoiled with the Hogue wraparound grip that came on my Springfield, the type with the finger grooves. Tomorrow I plan on heading to Bass Pro to see if they have any that style in stock that'll fit the P228.

Hogue makes 2 different styles of rubber grips for the 228 if Bass Pro dosen't have any you can order direct from Hogue.

I have always regretted selling my P228 back in the early 90s, then SIG stopped civilian sales after they got a g'mnt contract (one of the USAF agencies IIRC? Feel free to correct me, please) and I could never find another. Mine shot to POA and was sweet with the Federal Nyclad soft lead hollowpoints (alas, another extinction). The slide engraved "Made in W. Germany" = pre-unification Germany, i.e, prior to 1990. 20th anniversary of reunification coming up October 3rd...
Congrats on a fantastic pistol! And if you ever want to sell...

Hey 360,

If you find that it's not everything you ever dreamed of, I would be happy to help another forum member out and take that thing off your hands. :lol4:

Yeah, I know.... I'll just keep my fingers crossed. :eyeroll:

I was not 100% happy with it at the range yesterday but with the new grips I think it has a fighting chance when I return Wednesday. If she fails to disappoint, I'll send her to Sig to have them do a full service and install night sights. If I'm still not happy with the new grips, I'll still probably hold onto it for a while, while I get some things taken care of on the Springer. I don't think I'll be selling/trading anytime in the near future, but if so I will let you guys be the first to know.

By the way, both the magazine and the grips are stamped 94, so I'm thinking the gun was produced then, not pre-90. Still learning about this one though. Another tid bit of info, the gun was paired with a first gen Glock 23, that was also available for sale. (didn't buy it)

Edit: Just serial dated it, 94.

Is the P228 going to be one of your carry guns, if so what holster are you looking at. I have a P228 and was curious, great gun.
Right now I'm still carrying my Springfield in a Crossbreed Supertuck. I'm taking a trip to the range tomorrow to see how I like the new grips and if things go well I will likely order another Supertuck for this one.
