Good to meet you Phillip.... great shooting as well. I enjoyed the 300 yd shooting and learing how to tweak my shooting from different positions for the better....never would've thought of shooting my 243win 300 yds.... and glad to confirm the 300wsm at that range as well...

Anyhow, it was a good day of shooting.. Clyde is cool...would like to have a little more direct individual instruction from a class like that, but I still picked up some skills I didn't have this am.....well worth the time and low cost to me...

Looking forward to the combat rifle course next month...

It was good to meet you too, Tom. Clyde is probably one of the best rifle shooters Mississippi has ever produced, that Distiguished Rifleman badge is no easy feat, he has much knowledge in that bald head.

For the combat rifle course, try to find some way to practice dry fire drills on moving targets. Cars on the highway would be ideal. Just kidding, but something like that is will be your moving target. The quartering away moving shot is a challenge. I haven't checked to see if I can fit it in my schedule.

 thanks for the advice....... and, yes it was very evident that Clyde knows his business! Really enjoyed the day.... and much more confident on longer shots and alternate positions.... I dare that monster buck to show himself while I'm walking in/out of the woods now!! I like the sling techniques also...gonna look for a couple at the next gun show... in Laurel on Oct 2 & 3 ...

Those web slings work well but if you want to go with what the competition shooters use either Les Tam or Turner Saddlery. I had a Turner AWS (all weather sling) sling in my bag that would look good on your rifles. It's made of "biothane" a synthetic material that is impervious to moisture and holds well, it doesn't slip. I had a Turner national match leather sling on my 1903 today. The canvas slings are called M1 web slings and can be had for $5 to $15. The key to using a sling is to only use it when your support arm has a rest, else it does no good. A good book on what we learned today is "Art of the Rifle" by Jeff Cooper of 1911 fame.
