Your post caused me to reminisce (I expect you get tired of this after awhile).

Did my PD shooting back in the 60’s when I lived in WY.

Used a 22-250.

Had located several PD towns, most of which would be centered in a shallow bowl or there would be some sort of relatively higher ground near enough.

Would select a town, ease up to the edge, stretch out, set up a nice rest, keep the binoculars working, be patient, and laze away the good of of the day, getting in some intermittent shots.

Eddybo goes alot. He brings multiple barrels and thousands of rounds of handloaded ammo. They may hurt the feelings though. They shoot them way off. Like 700 yard plus prairie dog kills (it takes a few tries).

I could be talked into it 'neck. Id have to buy a rifle to use though, only ones i have now are a mosin nagant and a 1022. I know the nagant would be major overkill on one, probably vaporize the little bas***d.

Folks shoot F Class 600 - 1000 yards....so why not a PD?...

just gotta have the right equipment and able to have enough MOA adjustment in your scope...That's why they make 20 MOA bases...and Nightforce scopes

Of Course you gotta shoot a good bit to know what you gear will do..and at what range...all fun right?

I should have my tricked out 260 Remington in another month...if I'm not broke after a 5.5 x 22 x 50 NF scope, rings and bases...I'm up for a little road trip to vaporize some critters

Ok Heads up.

Necks going PD hunting this fall...just gotta do it....Might be a Leave on a Wed, hunt Thurs Fri Sat and drive back on a Sun

Might be W. Tx might be Kansas

http://www.rebelridgeoutfitters.com/Prairie_Dogs.html

would like to get a group trip up so if 3 or 4 folks would like to tag along pm me or mstrophyhunter

Cost will be about 250 a day plus expenses...fuel etc...we'll drive it

Biggest expense is gonna be ammo and rifle barrels you have to replace.....a good problem..think mstropyhunter said He burned 6 barrels up last trip

probably need to take a couple thousand rds....223, 308, 22-250, 6 mm etc

If you think you might be in interested in a Oct time frame trip...hollar...

serious inquiries only

I have a contact to free yes that's right free p'dog hunting in south east wyoming, the guy has several thousand acres and he wants the little critters GONE!! It is a longer trip, but did I mention it was free. Let me know I been itchin to go for 3 years now. Let's plan for first or 2nd week of June, he says May is still iffy for snow storms. Let's talk it out guys!!

The hunting is free, it's the gettin there and gettin back and the eatin and the sleeping (unless we rough it in tents). I am serious guys, I have already told my wife. I am going p'dog hunting before I get too old to see to shoot the little critters. We just need to get the plans together, where we going, who is going, how long to stay, personally I want to hunt for 3-5 days, I mean if you are going that far make the most of it. Let's talk this out dudes. If we split the fuel expenses 4 ways and don't eat lobster and steak every meal, we can do this on $500 or so I think. That's not counting the ammo, but you really shouldn't be reading this right now, you need to be reloading lots of ammo!!
