image.jpg I just purchased an old .22 handgun that came with a leather holster. The holster is in pretty good condition but is a little dirty and very dry. I've heard saddle soap is not the way to go. Looking for tips on what to use to help this old holster. Thanks

I've heard of people using neatsfoot oil but I think that might soften it over time.
I'm no authority on this subject.

  3. saddle soap is what i used to bring some leather that back from po condition.

I haven't personally used it yet, but Connolly Hide Care comes very highly recommended by a leather magician on a Luger forum I read. He makes new goods, and restores old leather. Many recommendations from other folks there as well.

This is what I have used for the last 30 plus years on everything from original pre Civil War cartridge boxes, to original slings, saddles, holsters, etc. with excellent results. They make an original formula too, which I have also used but prefer the antique formula.

You have to be careful as most “leather conditioners” contain several ingredients that actually break down the leather over time.

I use and recommend the Pecards like vr1967 recommended
