"Primitive" Weapons

I went by Swann's Gun Repair at lunch today. He has two new Handi Rifles in stock. A synthetic stock in .44 mag for $249 and a monte carlo wood stock in .444 for $279. He also has a used stainless steel TC Encore Pro Hunter in .35 Whelan for $499. It has a fluted barrel and a synthetic thumbhole stock.I don't know if these are good deals or not. Just letting everybody know.

The Pro Hunter looked new. Swann's is on Old Canton Rd. It's .7 miles north of Northside Dr on the right. I hang out there a lot at lunch. It's only a block from my office.

Guys swann and my dad and I have known each other for years. He is a great guy and a super gunsmith and he prices his stuff fair. That's about the going rate for new handi rifles.

I was at Swann's again today. He had a couple of camo Handi-Rifles in .35 Remington. I didn't know they made them in .35 Rem.

Re: "Primitive" Weapons

I usually try to all my business with Swann's. His bore sighting is second to none. I have had 3 different guns and scopes put on by him and with each one, when I went to shoot them to make sure they were good, I put the second shot inside the first shot. This happened on 3 different occasions with 3 different guns and scopes. I was impressed to say the least

Didn't know that the .35 Remington was available in the Handi-Rifle. I thought it was just .35 Whelen. I still will stick with my KP1 in .45-70 but have several friends that would be intrested in a .35 Remington for "single shot season".

I don't THINK they are making a 35 Remmy,,,,however I KNOW they are making 35 Whelan....I bought one this year,leaves a 45/70 and 444 in the dust
PS thats a GOOD price on the Encore, better jump on it

Re: "Primitive" Weapons

Dave told me the distributor he was getting the .35 Remingtons from had talked H&R into making a few hundred for him. He said the H&R website doesn't list a .35 Remington. Dave had 3 or 4 of them. I think they are all gone now. I didn't see any when I was there today.
