I have several Bark River knives and really like them. My first one was a Blackwater Boot Knife. It is small, about the size of a bird and trout knife. Just about perfect for skinning squirrels and such. I have the Blackwater II which is bigger but don'tcarry it as much. It isn't as handy. My EDC is the Gunny. It is about the same size as the Franklin Project knives but thicker and with a blade shape more to my liking. (Nothing wrong with the Franklin Knives, hell I bought two and have put one through the wringer trying to get it to fail. It has kept on shining.)

My one issue with BRKT is the sheath they send. They are junk and look like they were made for a ten dollar Chinese special.

Benchmade and Spyderco folders for me. Carry a Gayle Bradley spyderco with m4 blade and Warren Osborne Benchmade 940 with a s30v blade everyday. Also carry one of my fixed blades everyday too. Had to throw that in just so Yall know, and yes its m4 also.

My EDC folders are a Victorynox pen knife with a bottle opener for the Southern Pecan I drink, a Gerber for cutting food and fruit and a CRKT M16 for most everything else. I rarely carried a fixed blade until I got the Gunny and had a new sheath made. It rides behind the back in a horizontal sheath. The longer I carry it the more usess I find. I don't know why I didn't carry a good fixed blade long before now.

Folders are good, but fixed is the way to go if you can find a carry style that fits you.

sure wish I could get a small fixed blade EDC that would be discrete...The neck knife sorta fills the bill....They kinda frown upon fixed blades on your side in the "gun free zone" where I work....Yeah I think its :bull:

Have you seen any of the sheaths that fit into a back pocket for a fixed blade? Barry Dawson made some fixed blade "pocket knives" for a while that were great knives. I just couldn't afford one when they were around. One had a leather sheath about the size of a wallet with two strips of leather sewn on the top edge to catch on the folded over hem at the top of your pocket. Only the top 1/4 of the handle stuck out to grab or gather attention.

I have also seen Kydex sheaths with a pocket clip. They aren't as unobtrusive as the leather ones Dawson made but they worked really well.

Emerson waveless commander for me, it goes where I go. I recently removed the chisel grind and convexed it, scary sharp now!!!!

Of course I also have three fixed blades in my car, one in the door panel, one in the glovebox, and a machete that I've been tinkering on in the trunk.

I like the idea of a neck knife but nothing seems to have the right "feel" so far.

Thanks, yours too.

I used to have more in the car but they started getting in each others way.

I tell all the new guys this "If you carry a gun, carry a knife." I can't remember who I stole that bit of wisdom from but I'm sure glad he said it.

Sometimes they look at me funny but I explain the value of having a good sharp knife readily available. From weapon retention to who knows what a cop should have a knife, just my humble opinion.

I just really started dabbling in knifesmithing. I can't even really call it that yet, experimenting is more like it. But I think I've caught the bug.

Working on a forge now, and am looking for an electric motor for a homemade 2x72 grinder, any ideas? Relatively inexpensive ideas, I should say.
