Ok looking at getting a AR. An dont realy know anything about them. :( The 3 that i have been looking at are stag arms, bushmaster, an dpsm(i think thats right). The thing Im woundering is which one you all think is better. The other thing is are the parts interchangeable like mags, stocks, forearms, Ect. Sorry for all the questions an thanks for the help.

Thanks
Nick

Those are all good brands and I don't think you'd go wrong with any of them. The parts are all interchangeable as long as you stay in the same chambering. One BIG caveat to that interchangeability thing: Stag makes left hand models of all their weapons, and they have a lot of parts that are unique to them, because they are basically a mirror image of a regular right-handed AR.

Note: I'm assuming you're talking about an AR in 5.56, but if you're talking about 6.8 SPC, then I think there are better brands that give you more value and performance for your $$.

Build your own. That's whY I did. I did not save a whole bunch of money, but the pride of ownership thing goes a long way! I do believe, that for the same money, I ended up with a better weapon!
This is not a bad Idea, and my next one will be a build.
You can do as much as you can afford to start and finish with exactly what you want. With the internet it would take just a few hours of research and you could find tons of builds to choose from and there's quite a few that will have parts list and a price. JMO

I would like to hear more from you about the 6.8. At some point I am going to build another AR, but not in 5.56. I want a caliber I can hunt with, better than .223!

Out of the three you mention I would buy the Stag Arms it's the better made AR out of the three. CMT makes the upper and lower parts kits for RRA & Stag Arms. Stag also uses milspec buffer tubes, F marked front sites, MPI's their bolts, doesn't dremel their feedramps, and chrome lined barrels come standard. Another Company you should consider is LMT they make a excellent AR.

We are gettin' a little off topic here :HJ: but probably the best way to learn about 6.8 is hanging out on the 68forums (www.68forums.com/forums). I'm no expert -- learned most of what I know about 6.8 online -- but happy to share what I know. Feel free to PM me, or maybe just start a new thread with your 6.8 questions so everybody can weigh in...

But don't discount the 5.56 for hunting either. Lately I've been reading a lot of good results using the solid bullets for deer hunting. Apparently they are complete passthroughs with great penetration and internal destruction too. (Haven't tried this myself though -- just now building my first 5.56 upper.) Have not shot a deer with my 6.8 yet either for that matter -- haven't had a shot yet.

Ive got a Delton parts kit M4 type that i have $500 bucks in.. It shoots great and ive abused it a time or 4.

I also have a DPMS bull barrel upper on a Bushmaster Lower, Shoots awesome.

Its hard to go wrong with the top names.

Get a pen and paper out and make a list of parts and start searching. Model 1 Sales has some good prices.
