As I mentioned before I acquired a bunch of reloading equipment. Some of which were dies for a 22-250. So I was working on loading some last night. I loaded a few rounds and then found they were really tight in the bolt, some the bolt would not close.. So I took them out and then used the bullet puller for the first time (oh and why do they call it a puller instead of a banger?? :)).. The brass I was using was part of the acquitition and actually had primers already in them.. So I thought maybe they were not resized correctly so I deprimed and resized then loaded a couple again and they were still tight.. Then I noticed there was a trim die for also. So I ran them all through the trim die.. None of the other dies I got had a trim die with them.. Is there something different about the 22-250 that I need the trim die??

Did you do a Full length resize or a neck resize? is it hard to close with just a peice of brass in the chamber?
Whats the length of the brass?

Lets play 20 questions :lol4:
I don't know, I don't know and I don't know.. The brass was the same length as the the factory ammo I had.. I can close the bolt, but when I try to push the bolt down that it gets real tight.. I guess I will have to go back and measure the brass.

When youy are sizing the bress, does the shell holder touch the base of the die. Also, is the shell holder the same mfg as the die? I have a .270 WCF that would not close easily on brass sized in a new Lyman full length sizing die. I had to remove some metal from the base of the die. A minimum chamber and a maximum die can cause this. Also, what style bullet were you using? If they were flat based, the neck of the case has to be inside neck chamfered or the case at the shoulder can be bumped slightly. This will cause hard chambering of reloads call if you need to:.

The shellholder and the die are the same, but they are not quite touching.. I may need to check that again.. I am using Barnes TSX 62 grain bullets..

I think I will readjust the die so that it is touching the shell holder and then resize again then try a few to see if it gets better.

Two things come to mind -- stretch case needing a trim ... shot from another gun and have not been full-length resized correctly.
