I've been buying all of my 22 LR in bulk at Wal-Mart (Federal). I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on 22LR that might give me more accuracy. I'm not shooting a high precision weapon but I wonder if there's something better than the bulk Federal. Thanks for your input.

You're probably going to have to get to a Eley or Lapua to beat Fed Champion in grouping, but they are more expensive for sure.

If you want to stay with the bulk ammo, try the Winchester 333 boxes .. they shoot pretty well in one of my stock 10/22s. They, too, can be had at Walmart.

As stated above, if you want some additional consistency with your ammo, you are going to pay more - Wolf Target Match $6.00 (50), Eley Black Box $13.00 (50), etc....

Look for STANDARD velocity ammo, not high velocity ammo. As a general rule, standard velocity is more accurate than hi-velocity. However, different guns shoot certain ammo better. I would start buying a 50rd box of a bunch of different types of ammo, then comes the hard part.... Spend many hours on the range (calm wind - you are wasting time & ammo on a windy day) with a good rifle rest setup and scope (higher the power the better). Shoot 5rd groups at 50yds to start. Don't shoot too fast... hold the gun as steady as possible. When you find a few types of ammo that group the best, move the target to 100yds and try those types again.

Do your part when shooting for groups. Steady hold and easy trigger squeeze, and holding exact same point of aim each shot (this is where the high scope power comes in).

Wolf match target or SK Standard Plus will probably be your best bet with both being 5-6 per 50.

I like federal, solid nose 40 gr. Try using a micrometer and separating, grouping by length. use only same length at a shooting. Oh, use same batch also. a brick of 350ish is $20 at walmarts which carrys them.

i bought something new last night from wal mart last night and they seem to do good so far. they are federal match come 325 for 21.00 the velocity on them is 1200 fps vs the 1250 fps of the winchester 333 bulk seems to do good will give a update as soon as i can play with it some more.

well here is the update i promised....I DO NOT LIKE THE FEDERAL MATCH from walmart ha i shot tighter groups with winchester 333 bulk from 50 yards but thats just my person opinion and that is my gun all guns are a little different.

ruger 10/22 in my savage it was still like a shot gun very disappointed in the federal match i mean it is still a bulk ammo but it said it was match grade but it didnt seem to be to me at all.

My 10-22 is picky, but loves Winchester Super x 40 gr. solid point.
(X22LR) It only comes in boxes of 50( about $3.50) and Wal-Mart doesn't carry it.

WHere can I get the Eley around here for $13.00 a box (Without ordering online). Was going to buy some at Vanns but its 24 a box. Ended up buying Federal Match. Would like to get some of that Eley.

The Eley he is referring to is black box Match. The Tenex is over $20 sometimes. If you are wanting to try some ammo, either pay the extra local or order a whole bunch of different types online.

I picked up some Aguila Eley Prime today. Dont know how good it is. $6.50 a box at Surplus City. Going to pick up a box of wolf tomorow at Vanns. Wednesday going to the range. Ill be able to see what suits me out of the three, if any of it. Ill be shooting Federal Match, Aquila Eley Prime and Wolf. Based on what everyone says on here about the Wolf, I am thinking "That". Will see Wednesday.
