What is the recommended powder and load, I always thought you could use unique on any round, however I'm hearing other wise?

My 40cal bullets from my LEE molds weigh 178gr. I use 5.0gr of Win 231.

I use 5.3gns of Bullseye and about 5.8 of power pistol. I will start with universal here sOon when my next package of bullets come in.

I use Unique for all my cast pistol loads. Not a big fan of it in cast rifle loads but it isn't really intended for that. If I'm not mistaken, Unique is for shotshells. I use 8 grains Unique behind 175(ish) 40 cal cast boolits

I ended up using 5 grains of accurate #5 with the 175 cast, the minimum load of 5.5 was flattening the primers

I use 4 grains Bullseye.....nice target load. I'm not worried about power factor.

I load 140gr cast with 6.5gr unique. Nice light load. For my xd i was loading them at 6gr but they didnt cycle my buddys G22 good so i bumped it up to 6.5 and it works great.

Finally went to the range will my load of 5 grains of accurate #5 extremely accurate even for my old eyes.
