Loading up my first test rounds with H4895 and Hornady 150 SP and FMJBT. I have a couple of questions about crimping.

1) Is it needed for safety reasons?
2) If not needed for safety, does it seem to hurt or imrove accuracy. Or, it is "it depends on what the gun likes".
3) If crimping, any reason to not use a Lee Factory Crimp Die over a roll crimp?

IMO..... Do NOT roll-crimp the 30-06 round.

Only crimp into the bullet cannelure.

IMO..... LEE Factory Crimp dies do a great job.

Not sure how crimping effects accuracy precision.

Agree with SGF - Do NOT roll-crimp ...

I have never crimped a Garand round ... if you use good cases, you should have enough case tension. When seating a bullet, if I feel it seats too easy, I use that round in a 1903 or M1917. If you do decide to crimp, I would suggest a light taper crimp.

Accuracy - the standard Garand is not a sub MOA rifle. At distances of 200m or less you will never notice any difference - IMHO.

I do not crimp either. Have not seen a need with proper resizing. Being a semiautomatic, full length resize.
