A couple of weeks ago, a friend and I went to Starkville Gun Club to sight in our hunting weapons. My chosen hunting round, Hornady 165 gr. BTSP Interlock, did well at 100 yards. It measured 1.1". We moved back to 200, and it all well to the proverbial hot place. I was upset! I've been talking to SGMJody about reloads and BeauBeaux about weapon mods. Well, first step was to try some reloads. This was first because it was cheapest! SGMjody gave me some Sierra Match King 220's to try. I already had some 165 gr BTSP Hornady's. I had some W760 and H335. Reloader gave me some PRIMED .30-06 brass. I was ready! Loaded 4 different loads of the 165's over H335 and 4 more over W760. then I loaded 4 loads of the 220's over W760.

Skip to today, because none of you want to hear about my three days at work! Got to the range at 0845 (SGMJody had been there since yesterday, I think). I got to shoot his new Savage .308, first (awesome weapon). Then, it was time to go to work with my '06! Wow! I couldn't believe my eyes! I had several loads under MOA! We were shooting at 200 yd. I had three loads under 1". My best was the 165 over W760 at .6360". Next was the 165 over H335 at @.75". I also had one of the 220's just under 1". Remember this was all at 200 yds. Now a couple of pics:

I don't remember the exact loads, but if anyone wants them, I'll be glad to poast them.

For those of you who haven't really looked at the targets, the two targets represent 60 points out of a possible 60 points at 200 yards. There were 3 X's and if the first target had been fired on the standard NRA 200 yard target like the second picture shows, then would have been 5 x's and 1 ten. That's awesome shooting by jbpmidas. Not many off the shelf rifles can do that not discounting the fact that very few shooters can do that. Very good job jbp. I had fun. This was probably the best day I've had at the range in months just watching a shooter shoot.

I would have only shot the 165's but SGMJody accidentally bought the 220's. He couldn't find .308 reloading data, so he let me try them.

When you find a good deal on stuff, you got to try it! FREE IS A GOOD DEAL!

Good shooting. I miss going to SGC. Was a member and board member for many years. Punched many a hole in that birm. And deposited a few tons of shot on the shotgun range too.
