Let’s give this a try.... I grew up in Wiggins but live in Texas now due to work. I’m looking for a gun someone on here might have or have one similar. It’s a Remington 760 carbine in 270 caliber. My dad had it when I was growing up and it was his favorite gun ever. He had to sell it around the time I was in middle school if I remember correctly. That’s would have been around 1992-95 but it could have been earlier or a little later. He sold it to make ends meet as that was a hard time for my parents. Since I have been grown I have always said if i find one in a pawn shop I would buy it and give it to him. Every time I go to a gun show or pawn shop I look for one but never have seen one exactly like it. I’m sure I won’t find the exact one on here but it would be nice if so. Does anyone have one they bought around that time period? Does anyone have one at all they would sell? It’s not a special gun to most folks but it would be to him for sure. If anyone could help me locate one I would be extremely appreciative of it. I’ve looked at all the big sites and still can’t locate one exactly like it. He doesn’t know about this but would be surprised if I do deliver him one, one day. As far as coming to get it is concerned, I would make my way over when I could. It would have been someone from the coastal counties or Forest county that bought it from him. All help is greatly appreciated, enjoy your week everyone!

Failing to find one here, I would try the usual suspects online: Bud's, gunbroker.com, etc.

I had a 760 Carbine around that time in .30-06 that I was very fond of. They are good little walking-around in the woods guns!

Yes sir they are... He use to dog hunt with it back then a lot. He doesn’t dog hunt anymore but I’m sure he would love it for still hunting.

They made the .270 in a carbine but it wasn't a good seller so they didn't make a lot of it. Too much muzzle blast for most people when shooting a .270 through that short of a barrel. That makes them hard to find - especially in good condition.

I've been searching and it looks like the carbine .270 is an oddball. Best option may be to buy a .270 rifle and have the barrel shortened/front sight reinstalled. Could probably have that done for $50-$75.

I know a neighbor/friend that I think has one in 30.06. Except for buying his son a 243, I believe that is the only deer rifle he has bought and hunted with. I have seen the longer barrel 270 in the rifle. I have a friend that has always been able to find me guns that I have wanted for my collection. I talked to him today. I will try to talk to him tomorrow and ask if he knows somebody that might have one to sell or trade. Putting some feelers out, might just find one.
