Didn't see a thread on here for these "Speedmasters", so anybody here have any experiences with these guns? Love 'em or Hate 'em?

I personally own two of these one older one from the 70's and a bit of a newer 80's model. They are both excellent shooters and can fire .22 shorts, long and long rifle. The tubular magazine will hold 20 rounds of shorts.

This will probably stir up a hornets nest but I believe the speedmaster can out cycle a 10/22 and Marlin 60. I never have put it on a stopwatch but have emptied the gun faster than my buddies guns just plinkin before. The only drawback for me is they are a PITA to clean.

I can honestly say I have never shot it over about 50yds. The scopes on both of them are sighted in at 30 yds. I have a Marlin 22 mag that I have killed rabbits with at 100yds but I have never target shot it at 100yds either. It is sighted in at 50yds.

I would not consider the speedmaster as a target rifle, however it is a small game killing machine. My target shooting is usually limited to sightin in scopes.

Pics as requested:

Speedmaster this is the newer of the two it resides inside the house, the other stays in my shop. I didn't fetch it for the photo op. They are identical except for the front sight.

Also snapped a shot of my Marlin 22 magnum while I was at it.

Two nice looking rifles. That Speedmaster looks like a Winchester I had a long time ago. Let it get away from me. Can't get enough .22's. Those pins in the side held everything and the trigger group came out giving you access to the bolt if I remember right (20 y.a.). To answer your question, yes, I loved mine. Don't let it get away.

I have one that I bought in about 1972 I think. No telling how many thousands of rounds I've put through that thing. Had to replace the extractor a couple years ago, but other then that it's been perfect.

I have 3, in my opinion the best .22lr rifle ever made. One is from when my dad was a kid and has probably 20,000 rounds through it, the other I bought a few years ago and is brand new in the box but probably 30 years old. Mine eats any ammo, never jams, and I can put a bullet in the head off of a squirrel at 50 yards with the iron sights alld ay long. My brother has one too with a Vortex scope on it and it shoops under 1 MOA at 100 yards. I have had extremely built 10/22s, bolt action, and other semi auto .22s and the speedmaster is still by far my favorite and the only one I own now.
