I have shot a few. They are real nice guns but I feel they are a bit overpriced and overhyped. Buy you a Remington 700 and invest the money into upgrades and better optics and you will end up with a much better shooter for the price. The sendero seems to be focuses more on visual upgrades than real performance upgrades. A 300 ultra mag Sendero shoots just like any other 300 ultra mag, if you get the one with the muzzle break it will reduce the recoil a little but you need to have earplugs in everytime you shoot it even if it's just one shot at a deer because muzzle breaks increase the noice a lot.

What are your plans for the rifle your looking to get? Deer hunting or what?

I had an SF II in 300 RUM and it was not bad at all to shoot. I loaded 180 grain bergers over around 90 grains of H 1000 and it shot clover leafs at 100 yards. I know folks that have customs that dont shoot that good.

custom aint no hassle...if you know the right folks...

start with a Rem 700 or Savage action and roll your own...biggest problem is the wait time....the really good stocks, barrels etc usually take a while to find....so its either instant gratification or a little wait time...and how deep your gun wallet is...

I've never regretted going custom.....aint never shot a sendero....in caliber you mention.....300 Ultra mag is a bit over the top maybe for MS hunting....but if there were any issues I'm sure I'd heard about it..U can't lose either way

Well I'm single with no kids and work offshore what's this thing called money? The main thing I care about is less than 2 pound trigger and groups I can cover with a dime at 300
Definately go custom, the Sendero does not have a trigger under 2 pounds. Just like he said buy a 700 or a Savage, get a good barrel, trigger, stock, and optics. If you search around you can piece one together for the same price as the Sendero and have a much better rifle. What kinda price range are you looking at?

Oh and I would seriously consider .308, plenty enought to kill anything around here, great ballistics, ammo is cheap and one of the most commonly available centerfire rounds, longer barrel life, less recoil, etc.... there is a reason that the military and LE use .308 for most of their long range rifles.

Yea just Gunna have to build one . A jewel trigger is a given I love jewels . Now I just have to find a stainless starter gun with a magnum action. Been thinkn about building one for afew years now . I only have a 600 yard range at my house . After deer season I'm going with my neighbor to his lease he has over 1000 yard gas line there. I mainly want it for hunting but I want target accuracy. I now I'm going with a medium heavy barrel so I can pack it around . Might go elk or bear hunting one day and have to shoot from one mountain to the other

My opinion is if you want one hole groups, go with a 6.5, 7mm08 or 308 winchester. If blowing a hole out the side of a deer is what you are looking for go with a 300 Ultra Mag. An ole hunting buddy has one and he told me that he could down load it to a 30.06 or regular 300 mag level. Also you can get power level loads from Remington from the factory. It is too much gun for me but I do like the Sendero.

Build it. trigger is easy. I like the regular 40x triggers. they have always worked for me. I have seen several 40x 308 rifles go for not much more than a Sendero about $1000 to $1500 with repeater actions. They are custom shop rifles and will shoot excellent. I have had both the Sendero 300RUM kicked like a mule until I put a brake on it. Also for consideration is the 700xps tactical. It has the 40x trigger and is 300wm stainless wit ha green teflon coating and fluted barrel in a Bell & carlson stock. I like them better than the sendero since they have the 40x trigger and are coated.

The barrel came in the day before I left and I didn't find a action before I left . I'm Probily going my academy on my way home in 18 days or so . They have actions with extra parts hung on them for $370 . I think my barrel will be fluted or in the process of it when I get home .
