Luke 15: 17 - 20
"When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.' So he got up and went to his father. "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. (NIV)

How many times I have played the prodigal. I don't just wander off, but I take a deliberate path that is in direct disobedience to my heavenly Father. And how many times have I had to say to myself, "this isn't where I want to be, I want to go back to my Father."

Even though I strayed from His presence and fellowship, praise Him that He will forgive me and welcome me back. But first I must accept responsibility for my actions, confess my sin, return to Him, and ask Him to forgive me.

When you find yourself out of fellowship with God, on the wrong track, it's kind of like being lost in the woods. The first thing you must do is to say to yourself. "I am lost. I am in need of God's forgiveness and His presence in my life." Ask for it, and God has promised to forgive and to remember our sins no more. Fellowship can be restored.
