Thinking about Christmas I am considering getting a 22 rifle for my better half. I looked at a Rossi R22 in FDE and was quite impressed with the stock form and somewhat of a design on it. Anyone have any experience with these?

She really likes some of the wood rifles that have laser etched animals and such on the wood, right now I cannot recall the manufactures at the moment. much less the price.

I can trying to keep the price fairly economic, since there will be multiple gifts in the mix.

Thoughts would be appreciated.

Ruger makes several of these as does Savage.
I did a search after my post and seen just what you told me, they are a considerable price increase on those etched ones. I figure I can get a R22 under 120 or +/-

The less I spend on the rifle the more other things she can get. Naturally if it does not function reliably then its a waste even if it were a cheaper price.

She is just starting to shoot and she needs a short pull and i prefer the mag for her over tube.

Can get a 10/22 for about $200
Ruger 10/22 .22 LR

Guns Midwest | Overland Park, KS | Ruger 10/22 Carbine .22lr

top link has a $25 gift certificate as well

I would probably go pickup a used 22 at LGS for $100-150 or so rather than a new one that you may question its reliability. I know one LGS that if it doesnt function well they will make it right.
Thanks! I really like the stock in the upper link, she would also, Where/What is LGS? I am not opposed to very clean used, I can breakem down and clean the internals

Gary's in West Point probably has a new 10/22 on the rack. Maybe used ones also.

If you dont want a 1022 then you can always look for a Marlin 795 since it takes mags.

You can also put out a WTB ad here and see what comes up. Several have extensive collection of 22lr's so there may be some they can part with.
