Got a chance to get one at a good price I think. Mark III I guess b/c plastic bottom. Got a S.S. top half, says Target, with a 5 1/2 bull barrel. Adjustable sights but the front and rear sights are just just black with no outlines. Dirty as all get out but looks like it'll clean up. Comes with 2 mags. Haven't fired it. Is not tapped for a scope and it does not have one of those indicators that has "firearm is loaded" or whatever the new ones have. Serial is 224-45XXX. Does not have the red Ruger emblem on the side, just a black emblem with Ruger below that. The grips have serations running fore and aft, not checkered.
Needs trigger job, lots of play
Mag release needs to be extended
Front sight needs a trueglo or something, ok with the rear.

Question - who is a good smith on these and what will the damage be roughly? Anything else I left out, couldn't get a picture. Want to give the steel another go but it'll be .22 or nothing.

Don't think the 22/45s came as the mark 2s... Maybe wrong

Sid, the mark 3s have metal lowers. At least I am pretty sure mine does. But the 22/45s are plastic lowers and has a grip angle more like the 1911s.

Never met a ruger rimfire that don't need a trigger job so welcome to the club. Lol

Check out rimfirecentral.com. Whole section dedicated to the mark pistols.

Thought you had a Glock 17 9mm ready to go Sid?....
I can't afford to shoot my 34 twice a month even reloading. Shooting a .22 on the steel will be a little easier on the pocket book. BTW, that check you gave me for the ammo cans was no good. Kidding of course, I hate waiting on my checks to clear so I will try to get out there and put it in the bank tomorrow.
After the IRS putting me through the ringer, had to put a few things on hold but I am going to get the 34 to the gunsmith to get it running right. I wanted to get a few rounds off on your 34 to see how I like what you had done to it.
You been investing your money in gunsmiths, I been negotiating with the IRS. They want to draw and quarter you over a difference of opinion. I got them paid off though and got the letter to prove it. I'm back on track buying some gun things again and one may be this Ruger22//45.

Yeah Mr. Doug, the plastic lower is a drawback. I have not committed to buying it but the price is right.

As far as being a mark II or III, I tend to think it may be an early model III. It has the the buttons up high like a III with the mag release right behind the trigger and the lower is plastic. It does not have the Loaded Chamber Indicator and is not tapped for a scope mount like the III has so I am confused. Any ideas?
Joe I think you are wrong, the III has a plastic lower but the II is steel. I think you may have a stainless one and from what I've seen, they appear to be all stainless steel. I have been looking at rimfire central, good site but there is a lot of info to go through.

What have you guys have done to your Ruger 22 pistols?

Sid
I may be wrong but the receiver has brush marks on it and made me think it was all metal. Noticed that when I had the gun disassembled tonight. The grip panel threads is also threaded directly into the frame, not inserts. May just be a stout plastic?

Thanks

Mine is 100% Factory and shoots awesome.

Id like to get a trigger in it to take out the pretravel, it breaks very crisp and reset is very short, the pretravel gets me ever time tho.
Besides that, im waiting on my paperwork to get my suppressor for it :D
