Safe place to buy a private party gun in Jackson

7921 Views 56 Replies 32 Participants Last post by  Trashy
Sometime this week I should be meeting up with a guy (that I do not know personally) to buy a gun. I have never purchased a firearm from someone I didn't know. Any suggestions on a decent place to meet in the jxn area? Obviously I don't want to go to a stranger's home who I know has a gun, and who knows I've got cash. I'm thinking a Walmart parking lot might not be the best place to be having such an exchange. Thanks in advance!

I work in N Jackson. I've met several people in the Highland Village parking lot and also several in the Sports Museum parking lot on Lakeland Dr.

Thanks for the quick response. Much appreciated n
Be safe. Having a trusted wing man to provide armed overwatch is never a bad idea either ...

depending on how you "feel"....I've mentioned to people I dont know about meeting in parking lot of Madison sheriff, Reservoir Police, Flowood police ....they all have video cameras out front...and if you call ahead...sometimes will arrange for an officer to stand outside. If someone balks at that, it raises red flags in my mind.

Considering some of the officers I have met around where I live I wouldn't be to comfortable meeting in their parking lot. Especially after all the shootings. Just me though.

In Pearl, Richland or Florence. If they refuse to meet you in one of those places I would pass on the deal. No place in Jackson should be considered safe.

^ What they said.

And wherever you do it, take an armed friend along.

Do it in the daylight.

And for sure, do NOT meet in the Home Depot/Target shopping center parking lot on the east side of I-55 North. You could have your car stolen, or worse. Ask me how I know . . .

Hmmm, I’ve met someone in that parking lot before...

Thank you all for the input, and thanks for not mocking my ignorance. I've never had to bring a wingman when purchasing a gun from father in law or the gun shop which is where all mine have come from. If this guy ever gets back to me... I may get to use your advise.

I have done a ton of deals in the Target lot at Countyline Rd. Parking lot of ball park across from Bass Pro. Tell them Bass Pro the call them back and tell them you're across the street! I meet deplorables there all the time! Did Saturday. I think it was 6 of them.

But where ever it is take a friend or ask one of the old curmudgeons on here to go with you. You'd be surprised they're really a good bunch of old farts!

Well, it looks like we don't have a deal after all. Still haven't heard back from the guy I was buying from and the co-worker that was buying a gun from me backed out until next week.

We had a car stolen 20 yards from the front door of Home Depot. We had as much trouble with the Jackson PD as we did the thief. That was in broad daylight on a Friday afternoon.

We were told that thefts and such are common there because it is so convenient to the Tougaloo students.

That kind of thing happens all over the area. I found a large baggy of crack in the parking lot of dicks sporting goods in Madison a few years back. Stepped out of my car and there is was. MPD didn't seem too surprised.

I've met forum members, both known and unknown all over the Jackson area with no problems. Sometimes for guns or ammo and sometimes for steel. I'll meet a forum member anywhere convenient to us both. I've made a dozen or transactions in the parking lot of the sports museum. I hate going down Lakeland but it worked out. Four of those meetings were with women buying presents for their husbands and had never met me. I could tell 2 of them were carrying. Pick a public place with a stranger though

I think it worked out any way. The owner has still not responded to me and I've changed my mind. It was a G43, but I've been talked into a G26.
