I'm trying to decide on a 22WMR for shooting hogs. Would like a CZ 455 varmint BUT can't swing the $500 for one. I've been looking at the Savage B22 in the varmint barrell. I've found them online for $250. The accutriger and what appears to be a threaded barrel appeals to me. Anyone have experience with this gun and it's accuracy?

I’ve got the basic savage synthetic bull barrel. It shoots great. Just picked up a 17hmr also in a savage I’m waiting on the scope rings to come in to shoot it. I don’t think you can go wrong with a savage.

    I’m not sure, I know the .17 is a 917 I’ll have to look at the .22mag.

Ordered a B22 Magnum FV. Hope it works out. Need to be able to head shoot a hog at 50 yards.

Bought an assortment of ammo at academy today. Now got to see if I have an appropriate scope some where.

Nice groups at 50. Better than I could do.

Got to try them at 100 and see if they come apart. Sometime 100 yards really separates them. This was with a 3x9 prostaff rimfire. So parallax set at 75 yards. If I’d put on my 36x leupold I might be able to take almost .010” off those groups. Now I just need a calm day without a lot of heat and mirage

BTW that is a 3/4” dot...same as in my avitar.

Well great shooting in my book. And yes just as 50 really opens up sometimes compared to 25 , 100 can really open up with some.

Nice groups for 50 yards. Very impressive. I have the Savage Mark II bolt action. I love that gun. The accu-trigger is at 3lbs. I know that's heavy for serious target shooters, but I use mine for critters and small game. It's perfect. Your bull barrel should make it superb for your needs!

Our heavy barrel Savage .17 is one of the most accurate rifles we have, rim or center fire.

The trigger in mine has some creep, but acceptable for a sub $300 gun. On the bench I can get past the creepy trigger. In the field it could cause me to pull a shot tough.

Shot at 100 yards today. 5-15MPH head wind. Very switchy and did not use wind flags.

    CCI A22: 1.7"
CCI Gamepoint 40 gr JSP: 1.9" Hornady
    Hornady V-Max 30 gr: 1.75"
    Winchester super X 40 gr JHP: 1.1"

Looks like the Winchester keeps coming out on top.

Wow. That's great grouping for rimfire at 100 yards. Beautiful, and good bye, hogs . . .

If it was not so windy and I had a high power scope I'm sure I could have gotten 1 inch groups. I've never had a 22 Mag nor a savage rimfire. So, I assume the gun is shooting OK. I really just bought it to head shoot hogs at 50 yards or less. So looks like it's plenty accurate for that.
