I don't know what it should be but the guys at Fort Bragg are shooting 1/7 twist, 10 inch barrels, suppressed and hitting Pepper Poppers at 900 yards with 87 grain .223 projectiles. That's 1-1.25 MOA. I'd guess 1.5-2MOA with quality optics and a good rest from a 7.5 inch barrel, but that's only a guess.

You are going to lose some velocity with the 7.5 barrel. I did some chrono work using a 16", 20", and 22" and was surprised about the velocity difference - using the identical handloads. The higher velocity and better accuracy was had with the longer barrels. I would think that a 1/9 twist (common in ARs) shooting a 55gr should give you about 2MOA - I would believe that would open up just a little given the shorter barrel.

Skeeter bites can kill ya. I was at Mid South Institute in early November on the way to a match and learned that the snipers had been doing this quite recently. They normally shoot a 55 grain bullet at paper, 77 grains on the ground in enemy territory, and the snipers like the 87 grain bullets for the distance. The .223 is a devestating round with the increase in bullet making technology due to the lack of recoil and inherent accuracy found when using the best equipment money can buy. Tier 1 guys have unlimited budgets.
