I just bought a Savage A17 and have been looking at a few scopes. I think I have decided on a Hawke 4-12x40. I was wondering what height rings could I run to keep the scope as low as possible? Also interested in more scope choices.

You will need to set it in the rifle and use Allen wrenches to space it off the mounting rail. That's the easiest way I have found to figure out how to order the right rings.
Just be careful some show measurements from base to center of scope. Others show base to bottom of scope tube.
