Torx works
I just tried your idea of the Torx driver.
1st center drilled the broken off screw
Next broke off e-z out bit from Lowe's (real high quality - not)
work an hour getting broke ez out out of gun
drive Torx bit into hole with tap hammer
heat torx bit up to very hot with alcohol lamp
broken off screws come right out
