Just read that the SEC. had demanded State change/ quit flying the Mississippi flag or else forfeit any play off or championship games Is that even legal? Should they be able to demand such when the State has not changed it?

Think you misunderstood that, SEC said no playoff or conference championship will be played here, nothing about forfeiting games.

"Sankey said in a statement that until the Confederate emblem is removed from the upper-left corner of Mississippi's state flag, the conference will consider precluding SEC championship events from being conducted in the Magnolia State."

IMO this is no longer about the MS flag, confederate symbols or statues. Lots of other non-Confederate era symbols, memorials and statues coming down and there will be more coming down. However, don't look for any symbols favored by BLM to come down.

Truth!! There's more underneath and behind the scenes at work than we will probably ever know. Keep your head up, eyes and ears open, head on a swivel and powder dry.

MS State and all other MS universities took the state flag down years ago.
All the state universitys' presidents sent a reply yesterday stating their support for a new flag.

Yes, and of course they did.

ETA: And the MS governor and MS legislature that provides the MS TAYPAYER funds to state-supported institutions (and students via financial aid) did ...???

But, oh, they tried so very hard to pass a bill to make them ...

Give them a participation trophy, medal or ribbon -- that I don't pay for!

Better take a photo of Gen. S. D. Lee bust located on the drill field at MSU. It will disappear when school starts this year. If S. D. Lee goes, then so should "Bully."

MSU campus police will guard it against vandalism or destruction, won't they? <sarc>

It amazes me that the SEC would poke their noses into this. An organization that makes millions a year on athletes that they pay zero dollars should stay out of sight, out of mind on these types of things. Maybe the Universities and States they preside in should tell the SEC to go to hell.
HA! Fat chance of that ever happening. Just like the NFL bullchit, people will stamp and snort, but once the season starts - they're gonna be buying tickets and merchandise. There's a reason why some of the highest (if not THE highest) paid state employees in SEC states are the head football coach.

When Nick sat on the bench, not kneeling was my end of watching nfl for the most. College players will be coming up next to the nfl, why watch their games. Local high school games, pay $10 to see some kid you've never heard of. The last I saw looked like a Trible dance when someone did something halfass good.
