1 - While I'm not personally a fan of KAC, they are high quality rifles. I do believe they are overpriced and there are other high quality rifles that cost less, though not by a whole lot. I'd definitely rather them carry a KAC rifle than a PSA or Bear Creek.

2 - Don't blame the beat cops for the decisions of the chief(s). Especially when objectives have been politicized.
