It has nothing to do with those mentioned above, it is due to one promoter buying out another promoter and killing off most of those shows. 3 years ago there was one a month, now it is what you see.

Bill still owns New South/Original Jackson gun show but there is at least one site in particular that does not list New South shows

Also the Big Pop, David Chancellor, shows are at the Wahabi center. always full shows and $7.00 to get in!

Newsouth aka bill milstead bought out "the original jackson gun show" a couple years ago. He still does a show or two a year using that name.

IF you have been to any of the shows lately they arent very busy. The last few i worked were really boring.

Yeah.. he used to be partners with Chuck Kaplan for years .. the late MS Knifemakers Assn. did 2 shows with them when they co-owned it. I remember bean contacted me when he heard we were in the planning stages wanting us to set up with his show. Wasn't going to happen.

I moved to MS 20+ years ago and was shocked at the first Jackson gun show I went to. They are dismal in comparison to the shows I was used to where I moved from. Deals are few and far between and selection is sad. Dealers wares seem to be marked up over common street value on new guns and most of them I don't bother even looking at. The only deals that seem to be there is MAYBE the lucky used purchase. Recently I've started going to other shows outside the Jackson area and they are somewhat better but still not great. Seems the only reason they are better is they draw more out of state vendors.

If all a dealer is going to do is move his inventory to the show; with the same price stickers that he has on the guns in the store; then I can go to his store anytime and buy. I go to the shows because I'm not looking to pay retail. Isn't that the whole point of gun shows? Maybe I don't get it but I can tell you this; if you go to a decent show out of state; when you get home these shows will piss you off.

EDIT: I walk through the Jackson gun show these days and it seems to me it is all about selling over priced guns to thugs.

It's so of this stuff. Expensive entry fees, ridiculous prices, limited selection. Then there's the customer base. The past few shows I've been to have basically looked and smelled like a Snoop Dogg concert. You can get a contact high just walking around.

It seems to me all gunshows have become less frequent and don't have much, even going to Louisiana and Texas weren't that great. Last one that I really enjoyed and had a lot of stuff was in Hampton, Virginia. Online sales have killed them off in my opinion. I still remember the first one I attended at the trademark was right before the assault weapons ban and the pallet of SKS's for $39-49.

The last show i was at in jackson we had a pistol stolen off the table. Some body seen it and they caught the guy in the bathroom with a few stolen pistols. The kid tried to get smart with the cop and this cop looked like he had been lifting weights his whole life. Kid smarted off at the cop and he grabbed him by the neck and gave him some life lessons. Kid had to go sit in the corner with the cops foot resting on the kids ankle so he would try to run. It was quite the ordeal to watch.

I had forgotten about that. Think that was the same show where two fine upstanding citizens got busted with stolen guns, many bottles of prescription drugs and a bunch of counterfeit 20s and 100s. Guy I know on Capitol force said those two won’t be free till they are in their 50s at least. Oldest one was 20, other was 15.

Doubt the feds will do anything about the bogus bills. I find some about every other week, turn them over to CID, and nothing ever comes of it. And these aren't bills from the pallet of "movie" money that came up missing a while back, either.

I tend to agree. I usually have google pulled up as I'm walking down the aisles just to see the differences in prices.

Seems like half of the tables have the same products and they try to get you on "well tell me what they told you and ill beat it".
