Is anyone interested in having a shotgun sports forum? I've watched the forums for quite a while and have never seen much traffic about shotguns.

I know the reputation -- stuck up, snobs, etc, but I've found that those folks are pretty few and far between.

Even if there is little interest in shotgun sports, there are several great ranges in the state that are open for anyone to shoot a few rounds of skeet or sporting clays.

I know the range at the res. has skeet shooting .There is also a place off 471 in Brandon that has a skeet shooting range , oh and Kearney park in Flora . I'm not a skeet shooter but I have shot at Kearney park and the place off 471 both are nice places .The place at the res. seems pretty cool from the website, you can rent a golf cart for like 3 dollars I think , and it's only like 15 dollars to shoot , completely automated.

I knew that Turcotte at the Rez offered sporting clays but I did not know they had a Skeet course. Have to look into Kearney Park in Flora -- Any one know the name of the place off 471?

I can hit clays all day long using a plain Do-all trap out at the family farm....Turcotte is a whole other ball of wax lol. Those clays are going FAST..I think I hit less than half of what was thrown, but it was fun! 13 stages I believe.

The only way I've ever shot is on our farm with a spring loaded thrower so I can shoot even when no one is with me. I would love to go to a range and shoot just to see how well or mediocre I really did! I enjoy clays a lot more than target shooting myself.

I don't think MSGO would have a problem with a sub forum...we'd just need someone to watch it that know's what they're talking about.

I tied 2nd in the Nation at a Youth Hunters Education Challenge in Mansfield, Penn back in '01. Used a old Winchester 120 Ranger with a cut off 20" barrel. First time to ever shoot skeet was a few months before that in practice. Had a bunch of daddy boys up there with the $2000+ Over and unders, alot of the older guys up there said that i needed a better shotgun than what i had till they saw it in action :D

Now i just spray and pray, especially with crows, thats why i have a mag extension on it now :lol4:

Capitol Gun Club (off West County Line Rd in Hinds County) has skeet and trap -- five fields. And a 5 stand.

Also, it holds two of the "top 100" in the US Skeet tournaments each year -- the Catfish Open and The Rebel.

Literally, world champions come the shoot here every year.

It's $5 per round for members and $7 or 8 for non-members. Plus, there's always a good group out there.

Anyone is welcome. Open Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday 1-6:30. Plus, if you're a member, you can have open access to shoot anytime you want! Another benefit for members is we receive direct shipments from Gamaliel shooting supply for reloading components (huge savings).

We even have a new pistol and rimfire range for plinking (nothing like Magnolia, but it's fun to loosen a few rounds).

Try Tunica sometime. They have a top notch club and range. Little drive from Jackson but spend the weekend and shoot a couple rounds during the day and a few rounds at the tables at night. :D

This link will give the ranges information.
