I've held a couple and thought they felt pretty good. They weren't as light as I expected them to be. SIG is also making a combo pack now that has two barrels with it so you can switch between the standard barrel and a heavy barrel. There's one shown on the link below. It's the first rifle pictured right below the S&W Bodyguard .38.

I bought one in green from Impact late last year and highly recommend them. It's a very solid feeling, full sized gun.

It opens up similar to an AR-15 and cleaning is easy. The upper receiver is milled aluminum - the lower is plastic. There's not much play at all between them - no more than my Bushmaster AR-15. The bolt is (I think) milled stainless. The stock folds and telescopes for adjustment. Mine came with a standard flash hider on 1/2-28 threads. I always shoot mine with a suppressor attached and it's very quiet with subsonic rounds. Of course, the gun doesn't come with sights - I bought an inexpensive red dot on Amazon that has worked beautifully.

The gun feeds everything reliably except Remington subsonics - they get caught up on the ramp and the bolt doesn't go fully into battery and must be pushed closed. CCI subsonics and bulk pack ammo from Winchester and Federal work great.

I'm mostly a pistol shooter and don't have any targets set up at long distance, so I can only tell you it's very accurate from 20 yards :D. I don't know how it groups from longer range.

Hope that helps - I recommend it highly. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.

SGF, if you want more info on the 522 you can probably get all the information you'd ever want along with input from current owners on my SIG website, SIGTalk.com. www.sigtalk.com

If you'd like, come on over and make a post stating your interest (like the one here) and I'm sure you'll get lots of helpful information to help knock you off that fence, one way or the other.

That does does seem like an attractive price for a Sig ...
