I am a little worried about the distance the firing pin is striking the primer. Some of the strikes blew right through the primer case. Look at the pictures and you will know what i am talking about. I was using TULA AMMO FMJ HP. Has anyone else had this happen. Is it Bad. Should I file the firing pin? Any info would be appriciated.

I had the same problem with my Plainfield M-1 Carbine and Sellier & Bellot ammo. The Wolf and Aguila ammo worked fine. Maybe Captain or Doug will chime in on this.

I would highly recommend that you not fire anymore of that ammo through it until the problem is fixed.

Have you stripped and cleaned the bolt? Any dried cosmoline or debris in the firing pin channel can and will in a lot of cases cause the free floating pin to stick and pierce the primers like your pic shows. If you shake the bolt head you should be able to hear the firing pin rattle and you should be able to move it easily back and forth. If it has been stripped and cleaned you may have burrs in the firing pin channel causing the sticking. If all else fails, you can always get a new spring loaded bolt head but I'm almost willing to bet it's some kind of debris in the channel. Soak the heck out of it in solvent even after you think it's clean. And +1 on no more live fire till it's fixed. It can slamfire easily.
