Yeah it was one of those "regretable moments" about 1 1/2 yrs ago...for some reason guns come to mind when emergency cash is needed...It was collecting dust....I let it go for $200....SKS is more accurate than an AK...AK looks cooler though...Oh well...Got other "toys" I need more of right now...

Know what you mean -- Years ago I purchased 5 for $500 from Dale Magee (Magee Interprises) in Raymond. Still have two of 'em. They are very pleasant to shoot ...

Great links Captain-03!

I own a 1954 Tula arsenal SKS and it's a fun shooter. Many people turn their noses up at the SKS, but with it's longer sight radias, it's easily more accurate than the AK platform. You'll need a front sight adjustment tool to get either gun to group where you aim, but once it's dialed in, they are fun plinkers.

I sent my SKS trigger group to Bill Springfield for a complete trigger job and it now has an incredible pull. It's difficult to shoot a good group with a crappy trigger and I highly reccomend Bill's work.

I agree on the "more accurate than the AK platform". May get a trigger job someday but I'll keep my Russian anyhow. Mine is on one of those Advanced Technology stocks with an additional Barska 4X32 added this past year. I've been thinking of putting on one of those fiberglass Monte Carlo stocks or Tapco with the folding buttsock. Sellier & Bellot(can't seem to find more) and Russian(not Wolf) ammo will keep it running but can't chew up too much these days. I was not putting down Wolf ammo...just ask my M1 carbine. Captain-03-you saw my SKS on the center range last year. Along with the Springfield .45 so you'll know who this is. Didn't mean to write a letter...I'll end here.

Noone has been on this one in awhile. Just finished cleaning gas port and piston on my 1952 Tula Arsenal version. Very important task once in awhile. Easy job. Broke rifle down and re-cleaned everything. For additional references if unknown go to:
SKS:History and info a.k.a. sksboards.com and you will find a good read at carbinesforcollectors.com. Mine has 100% matching serial#s and no refurb marks. I just painted the high-rise mount to match rifle better and put back in original stock...

how do i find out the info on my new sks? For instance, what does the 416 in the triangle mean? I've seen it as an identifying mark on web sites but no info on its meaning. Maybe I just haven't been to the right site though. With me that's always a possibility.. :)
