And out of nowhere she asks what were those guns I was talking about driving to Alabama to buy (We had discussed it back in December). I told her an M1 Garand and a Kimber Mod 82. I told her I wanted the Garand because my Grandfather carried one in WWII and I wanted the Kimber to shoot competition with although I will be using my Savage I still want one. She asked "Why dont you go get them?". I said I didnt have the money right now for that and she says "Consider yourself having the money, Ill buy em for you". SOO, week after next Im going to Anniston to pick me up a Service Grade Garand and a Kimber!! Woohooo! lol

@Jake- I heard the same thing at a gun store yesterday about the POS guns at CMP. I was really disappointed because I was at a gun shop I respect.

I noticed on the CMP website that all Garands are shipped in a CMP Hard Case, when you buy them from the store do you get a hard case?

I bought mine at the store, but had it shipped home. I got a hard case. I think you do either way.

I was just reading SGMJody's post about his recent CMP Purchase. It states shipping was $40 something dollars. So is that a shipping charge from CMP that I would then have to have shipped to my FFL for transfer, another $50? Wondering if that is right because if so it would make more sense just to pay the 9% sales tax.

Tanker, They ship it direct to you,IRC, doesn't go to a dealer for transfer.

Reading on the CMP website they do the NICS background check themselves, so it would be no need to be shipped to a dealer for a transfer. He wouldn't be transfering anything,like if you order a gun online. I could be wrong but from everything I read on the CMP website they ship all rifles direct to you FedEx overnight. $22.95 per rifle.
