I never saw the draw or need for these guns. I think the judge "rifle" looks good but still not something I would buy. Anybody own a Judge and what exactly does shooting buckshot or shot through the gun do to the rifling.

I haven't shot either but for their intended purpose I don't see why they are even mentioning accuracy.
As far as looks... they both look similar and both look better than the old "Thunder Five". But comparing their looks is like saying Hank Williams Jr is uglier than David Allen Coe. :lol4:

One plus for the S&W... it's a 6 shot instead of 5 like the Taurus.

I don't own a Judge and never have even seriously considered buying one, but I don't see where they can claim that it's uglier than the Judge. IMHO, if anything it has a little bit more attractive lines than the Judge.

I confess, I own a Judge. I consider it a very short range SD pistol which is perfect for an apartment dweller or car carry on trips. Have fired many rounds of 45LC and 410 out of it. With 410 about 10 yds is all you get. With 45LC it's as accurate as most other large revolvers and that depends on the shooter. Have not noticed any degradation in the barrel yet. Works for me in my current situation. But still have 16 rounds of 45 ACP goodness readily available just in case!

Ehhh you must not have seen a "raging judge" yet then??? .45lc, .410, and .454 Casull. Not familiar with the ballistics but I would expect the Casull to be a good bit more powerful than the acp, though, much harder to find

The only thing S&W is copying is the revolver. I'll bet their price will be a LOT higher.

I do not want a revolver like these. The accuracy level has to be poor due to the long throat in the chambers.

You got it mr Doug. I had one of the Earlier models with a 6.5" barrel and with .45s it was insanely inaccurate past 15 yards or so. And with .410 loads I was far from impressed! Outside of about 5 yards, I wouldn't trust .410 coming out of a barrel that short to be much of a deterrent for any BG like Taurus claims, outside of the sound.

Within 5-10 feet, like in a vehicle, I think it would work very well but I got rid of mine because I didn't want to have to wait to find out

they're just short of identical....i dunno....s&w's bluing is at least much more attractive than taurus', which just looks really cheap...like they sharpie it on...and thats coming from someone who really likes Taurus guns

Hmmm....Tritium front sight, CT laser grips, 6 rounds of 410...make one heck of a nightstand gun. Not super ugly in black, just regular ugly. At that price though, I'll never own one, nor will I miss it.
