Depends really on the type of use you expect to give it. I recently upgraded to a Konus, which came in a cheesy soft bag. I looked at used hard camera cases on Ebay. Depending on how rough you plan on treating it you can spend from $20 - $100, and probably have to buy new foam as well.

I decided to just stick with the soft case, as mine only goes to the range, and does not get handled roughly.

If I had NO case, I'd get a cheap plastic toolbox for $10 and just wrap the scope in a towel.

Sometimes you can find the hard plastic multi-pistol cases at Walmart with foam ... cut the foam to fit ...

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking, so I'll just ramble...

I've got an angled Leica Televid 77. It must weigh about 5 lb; maybe 7. Leica sells a zippered case that's form-fitted for that specific scope--however, as I recall they wanted $225 the last time I looked, and that was ~10yr ago.

l went to the hardware store and bought a sheet of 3/8" Neoprene and zip-tied it around the scope. Just so it wouldn't look as ugly as it was, I cut the toe end off a black cotton sock and pulled the scope through. I glued some neoprene inside the circumference of a couple PVC pipe end caps to cover the lenses. It definitely looks Rube Goldberg'd but a sight better than it did with the zip-ties exposed...the whole setup cost me less than $14. My friend howled at me for wrapping a $1500 scope in a sock...

But I was about 10' from my shooting bench one time when another shooter on the next bench accidentally knocked my scope off my bench swinging his rifle case carelessly. The good news is, my scope was undamaged even after hitting the concrete floor; I've used it many times since that incident.

If you're asking about a rigid case with a handle, a lot depends on how much you wanna spend. There are cheap Walmart plastic cases that are foam-lined; Pelicans are more spendy but you could drive a car over them and not damage their contents. (hey, when ya load up that trunk and accidentally kick the case under the drive wheel out of sight anything can happen... don't axe me how I know... )
