I just saw an ad in this issue of American Rifleman(May 2010) for the new XD(M)45 but I can't get anything but the XD(M)3.8 9mm and 40 cal to come up on their website. Anybody out there know anything about this one? I am gonna buy one as soon as I can find out about them.

Im sure they are just starting production. GUn companies are bad about advertising way before a product reaches distributors.

It seems, according to a Springfield Armory employee, that the publisher of the American Rifleman has "jumped the gun" so to speak by running the ad. SA has not released the XD(M) 45 to distributors as of yet and was not ready to advertise their new addition to the XD(M) family. Oh well, that's the breaks.

XDGuys.com made a post about it on XDTalk. I'd love to get some specs on barrel length and what improvements have been made over the compact/service model's accuracy. I was thinking about buying a tactical .45 but am now just considering the XD M if it's any "better" than my compact.

The XDM is by far better than the regular XD.

The ad shows 4.5 etched in the slide, so I assume the barrel is 4.5".
