Well......... one of my problems was an air bubble in the lube tank. It happens when you add new lube. When the air bubble reaches the die it sometimes makes popping sound, and sometimes a fizzle sound. I got a few POPS.......... As you know, air is compressible, lube is not.
My next problem was bleeding die holes. If you have the pressure too great, small amounts of lube will flow between bullets. This is checked by looking for 3 little bits of lube on the base of the bullet (assuming feeding base first). I think I might look into getting the parts to convert from screw pressure adjustment to heavy weights. That way it will be CONSTANT pressure ALL the time. Amount of pressure needed is adjusted by adding or removing weights. I don't want to fool with the air pressure setup like the commercial guys do..........
So........ after a few cuss words, bouncing a few things off the walls, and way too much time.......... I now have these................
If you look close you can see a few bullets with the bits of lube on the base. Doesn't hurt anything for plinking ammo, just looks bad (to me).
I weighed a random sample of 10 bullets and came up with 146gr lubed. Same as unlubed....... strange.
At 146gr I will 148gr loading data for my reloads. The H&G 38cal bullets look GOOD. Maybe soon we will see how well they shoot.......
