I am about to leave on deployment and i am worried about the humidity getting to my weapons. I dont want some cheap oil to evaporate in two months.(Rem Oil) If someone has a good idea on how to keep guns oiled and sealed for 8+ months please share your best idea's. White Mechanic grease??????

I've always heard a good gun sock(after applying your lube of preference) helps a lot too....but I don't own one so I can't vouch for this method...all but 2 of my guns stay in the safe when not in use so rust isn't something that I'm overly worried about

Put a coat of Rig on all the outside metal surfaces (they will not rust with Rig on them, *period*) Run a patch coated with "Fluid Film" through the barrels. "Fluid Film" is an awesome rust and corrosion protection.

CLP for rust prevention. About ten years ago Gun Test magazine pitted, (pun intended), a number of oils, lubricants, and rust preventers in a head to head test.

A strip of unpainted metal cleaned and then hit with a wire brush. It was treated with a swipe of each product tested. After several months of exposure to the elements to include simulated salt water spray, CLP was the clear winner.

I don't especially care for CLP as a lubricant or cleaner, but after seeing the results, I feel it's excellent at protecting metal from rust. I've got long guns I haven't shot in many years that I applied a heavy dose of CLP and stuck in the back of a gun safe. Year's later there's no sign of rust but I am in a very low humidity climate.

I store almost all of my guns inside a silicone impregnated gun sock to prevent the small nicks and scratches from moving them around my gun safes. They run about five bucks from WalMart. It's possible they'll help prevent rust but that's not why I use them. At any rate, I'd never leave them inside a padded gun case. I had a M1100 freckle with rust spots when I left it stored in what thought was a dry, padded case. It's a pure upland game gun and I've hunted hard with this gun. Still, I hated to see the rust.

If you've got some neat stuff, you can ship them to me for preservation in our dry desert climate.

Those little dessicant bags you find in everything you buy work well, throw a few in a airtight bag with them after putting them in a dehumidifier themselves. Doesn't get warm enough to burn them but does dry them out again. Never seen them done like that so don't take my word for it.
Vegas, I love gun test mag. Only one I "trust". I'll try some of that CLP for coating them too.
And for last measure, go electric with dehumidier sticks, cheap so get two in case one gives out.
Put a bare piece of steel, untreated in there to "prove" everything is working. It'll rust b/f your guns/mags.

I left mine last summer on deployment in highly secure storage facility in a non climate contolled unit with no prep and they where fine. My two cents, as long as they are stored with a coat of oil and no finger prints you should be fine.
