For safety reasons, what is the proper method of storing powder
,primers and ammo? Is gun safe the way to go

i do ammo cans with a little desicant in it for powder and i use a food saver to vacume seal primers.. would you rather put a $20 dollar item in your safe or a $2000 item in it??

powder and primers in separate areas. ammo cans are cheep and useful.

I just keep my powder and primers seperate...If I had room for a small fire retardant safe I'd get 2 and use that....

Its not that big a deal

seperate and in a cool dry place is how i do it. i have a "kit" i made out of a portable toolbox that i keep all stuff in

Smokeless powder just burns well unless it can build pressure, then it's ka boom! For this reason I never store powder in an ammo can. For safety do you fret about where you keep your crisco? It will burn much better than a pound can of powder. A couple months ago I found some powder that has been in a bedroom cabinet since 1991. It shoots just fine and was just stored in a cool dry place.

Got some Clays and HP38 from 1996 (I know this from the Hogdon anniversery sticker on top) that has been stored in garage and it still works fine and shows no signs of degrading
