I've been going through and prepping all my old brass (from 20+ years ago) for a couple months now. Apparently, I used to think someone was going to come take it, because I had that stuff EVERYWHERE. I mean sacks full in totes in the attic and storage building and boxes full in the garage. I'm still finding them, lol! I had 11# of 45's, 357's and 9mm's in this sack alone. Got me to thinking of all the good times we had over in Clinton. They let me take all the brass I could carry when I practiced over there. I can't remember all the employee names but several were retired JPD and HCSO. They were so nice to me.

I saw "Surplus City" and thought of Hwy 80 near Ellis with the old PBY in the parking lot.
Damn I'm old... :(

I remember that PBY in the parking lot. Bought my first handgun there. Ruger MkI 5.5" bull barrel for $125.

Heck, I remember when Surplus City was in that Quansithut building on the North side of Hwy. 80. Had my parents buy my first rifle there (which I saved up to pay for). A Glenfield Model 60 (short version) 22LR for the whopping price of $40. I also remember getting my parents to buy boxes of Alcan 12ga shotgun shells there.

@HerrZnk @SubGunFan I remember the name PBY and remember buying stuff in the Ellis Surplus City and driving past it FAST trying to make it to the weekly indoor matches in Clinton. I appreciate y'all posting your memories. Good Stuff!

@JohnHeiter , Yes Sir. Me too. My grandfather, who incidentally, would have been 110 today, gave me a Colt 1911 and I had never handled one. John saw me struggling and gave a few pointers for proper grip and stance. I was cutting holes in no time.

We must be about the same age. My parents bought my 1st 12 gauge shotgun there for Christmas. Remington 1100 Magnum, $169. Never dreamed I would get something that expensive. Mosin's were $29.95, Enfield's and Mauser's were $49.95. Had them stuck in barrels. Local pawn shop's wouldn't take an Arisaka on pawn around where I lived.

Richard, Jimmy, John, and Thomas. Spent a lot of time in the Clinton gun range. The Thursday night shoots were one of the major contributors to getting me into shooting.
I worked with Jimmy’s brother and found out and got to shooting on Thursday nights. Bought, sold & traded there.
Like most everything it all came to an end way to soon, wished I had the money to have bought that place and kept it going .
All those guys were like family,I even liked grumpy gunsmith Thomas, catch him in a good mood and man did he have some stories.
