SATURDAY TRAP SHOOTS

What: Informal Trap Shoot using portable traps. This is not ATA style trap.

Where: Southwest Gun Club’s McComb Range facility. It is 6 miles East of McComb, MS on US Highway 98. When driving from McComb, drive East on US98 until you see the Homestead turnoff sign. Drive 2 miles further and the entrance to the range is on the North side of the road. If driving from Tylertown, MS, drive past the Bogue Chitto River Park and look for a roadside market on the right. The range road is 2.2 miles past the store, on the right. The name of the range road is Edna Drive.

When: The Trap Shoots will be scheduled, weather permitting, on the First Saturday of the month beginning at 9:00 am and ending at the discretion of the match director. You should come to the range as early as possible to be able to shoot. Emails will be sent to the membership telling them about the trap shoots on the Thursday before the shoot.

Equipment: Any shotgun that is safe to shoot using shells that do not exceed 3 dram – 1-1/8 ounces of shot. With a shot size of 7-1/2 or smaller ( 7-1/2, 8 or 9) Shotgun shells of more power will increase the shot fall zone to dangerous limits.

Due to safety issues: Numbers of loaded shells must coincide with number of clays to be shot at a sequence (i.e. single clay=single shell; double clay=2 shells) with a maximum of three = double plus single.
Course of Fire: A choice of 25 single birds or 12 pairs of double birds per round

Fee: $5.00 per single or double round, please bring cash and correct change

Ammunition is to be provided by the shooter. Shooter’s responsibility to the club: Try to help set up and take down the trap machines. Shooters will be responsible for the policing of all spent shotgun shells. Shooters should bring water or something to drink as well as a lunch if desired, also bring lawn chairs .

I should add that the previous "informal" start time meant to accommodate out of towners and church goers is no longer valid. Start time is 0900 and ALL shooters will be expected to pay in cash as well.

The Informal label on the event was not to do with start time. It has to do with the event not being an official style ATA event. We did not want anyone to confuse this event with a 16 yard ATA event. This is on the top of the page on the Event Program:

"What: Informal Trap Shoot using portable traps. This is not ATA style trap."

Cash has been asked for since the beginning of the event. Again I have a quote from the Event Program:
"Fee: $5.00 per single or double round, please bring cash and correct change"
