My question regards some +P ammo I bought. A few months ago I bought 3 boxes of Speer Gold Dot 124 grain 9mm +P rounds for self defense. I have a Ruger P95 that I know is rated for +P ammo, but I also have a Taurus PT 24/7 and a Taurus 709 both in 9mm. I tried to find out if these two guns are ok to shoot +P ammo through but I am getting mixed responses. The Taurus manuals only say that “shooting +P or +P+ ammo could shorten the life of the firearm” but it does not flat out say that you cannot shot it though. I use the Taurus 709 as a carry gun and would like to load the +P in it but I do not want the gun to malfunction or blow up on me in the event I really need it. Another person I know called Taurus and the guy he talked to said to not shoot +P ammo in the 709, but nothing about the 24/7. Then another guy I talked to said that it should not be a problem to shoot +P ammo through them. Thanks for any info. God bless.

Per taurus's website(I checked for myself a few days ago!) all of their guns are rated for +p ammo. So you should be good. +P ammo is just going to be harder on the slide and frame that's all....so what they mean is dont shoot 30,000 rounds of +p out of it and expect the gun to hold up. Just shoot it enough to stay familiar with it and practice with whatever cheap ammo you prefer would be my approach
