[/quote]HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The City of Hattiesburg is helping to finance a new development in the Western part of the city.
The Ridge at Turtle Creek will be the name of the development which will be on Highway 98 West next Target and will include an Academy Sports Superstore as well as a few others.
The city council will vote Tuesday on a measure to begin selling bonds which will be paid back over a ten year period by the developer. This move will allow infrastructure to be put in place, which council president Kim Bradley says will be a win-win.
"There's no out of pocket for the city, none at all, we're just allowing them to use a portion of their tax dollars to pay for the improvements that the city will be taking possession of," said Bradley.
The piece of land was set to become the site for Big Buck Sports, but that project was nixed. Work on the new development is set to begin as soon as possible.

not a huge deal, but Academy does always seem to have some sort of amazing price on a gun or two, so it'll be nice to have a large sporting good store around that won't try to rip you a new one on their gun prices.
