I knew Remington made a pump rifle in .223 and .308, but what the heck is that thing? More info please!

It would make a good hunting gun in states that don't allow hunting with a semi-auto if it was chambered in .308.

Remington made a pump action .223 that looked exactly like an 870. It was made (and still is, I believe) to be marketed to law enforcement agencies whose politician leaders (Chiefs and Sheriffs) did not want their officers/deputies armed with scary looking evil black rifles. This way they could be armed with a .223 without looking "militarized". They are actually a pretty cool concept, although obviously not as fast into action as an AR. I would not mind adding one to my collection.

I believe it was based more on the 7600 rifle than the 870. Though some features from the 870 I'm sure are incorporated. The concept wasn't just to look less militarized, but that cross training from an 870 to a rifle would take less time since they operated in the same manner. For most LEO applications it would serve very well. IMHO. Not as Sexy as an AR, but still effective.

You are right. Much more accurate way to describe it. The similarity to the 870 was also supposed to ease transition training from the shotgun to the new rifle. I really would love to get my hands on one.
