So I am trying to help this old man who is my neighbor He is 74 has Parkinson's pretty bad Well long story short he needs to buy a car so I am going to sell 2 guns for him One is a Ruger M77 30/06 Serial dates it 78-79 It is a tang safety with a cheap Tasco scope and the other is a TC Compass in 308 with a Simmons Pro 2.5-10x50 My question is what do ya'll think the value of each one is I am not a bolt gun guy I priced the TC New its 350.00 plus tax with no scope So I am thinking 300-350 It is in 9 out of 10 condition But I have no idea what the M77 is worth It is in 7 out 10 condition It has some scratches on the wood but bluing is in good shape and I don't see any rust Any info would be appreciated I am going to post a couple of pics also

Ruger fans are a cult and the M77 has its fair share of fan boys, and not without reason. It is a great rifle from an era when rifles were still made to last. The M77 has its own huge fan base due to the numerous calibers it was offered in. You can pretty much name your price on them. Since yours is a 30.06 it will not only appeal to the M77 collectors but any hunter looking for a solid hunting rifle offered in about the most mainstream caliber available for hunting. You should have no trouble selling it as long as you do it get to crazy with price.

If you're going to advertise it on Gunbroker, be sure to mention it's an M77 tang safety model. Having that safety on the tang instead of on the side of the receiver (like on the Mk II or Hawkeye) appeals to a large group of Ruger enthusiasts.

I have one, also in 30-06 - and I love having the safety right under my thumb where I can easily and quietly push it forward when I'm ready to shoot without taking my eyes off of the target, instead of having it someplace else where I might fumble the move or accidentally just push it halfway, which only releases the bolt - not the safety!

The wood has a few nicks and scratches but the metal looks good Except some speckling on the magazine It doesn't seem to be from rust Not sure what causes it I tried to get a pic of it Let me think know but you think Enfield

I believe the mag door is aluminum.
I believe the floor plate is aluminum. The rifle looks pretty decent I’ve seen a lot for sale at various stores. I was at the Cabelas in Huntsville and they had one similar to this one in rough rough shape for $700. I would say based off what I’ve seen I’m definitely bo expert but I would say I wouldn’t take less than a grand but I’m more familiar with the all weather variant. Others please chime in

It won't sell at $1,000 without just getting lucky.
GunBroker isn't the perfect forecaster of prices, but it's rarely Low. As I said earlier, there's been a few of these sold there recently. $650-750 (plus shipping and tax) is the going rate There was at least one that got 0 bids at $750.
