Before and after i think I did good for my first time sanding and polishing a gun. Let me know how I did

Yea it was blued I soaked in vinegar to make the blue come off easier and I sanded with 800 to 3000 grit to give it a smooth finish and polished but I just wiped it down with cleaning oil to keep rust off but after oil get a dry rag to get the gun where it isn't slippery plus the polish keeps it from rusting as wellSo what did you do The gun was blued? You sanded? How do you keep it from rusting?
