First round of make-do 375 Winchester. Can't find 375 cases so I trimmed up some 38-55 I had laying around. These are 250 plain base over 2400; 1783 fps @ 10 feet. Accuracy was way better than expected. I need to tickle this load a little bit as I'd like to make 1800 with it. Still, it ought to be sufficient for hogs and whatnot.
I've been experimenting with heavier bullets in subsonic 9x19 loads. I've found success with a 158 Grain Semi-Jacketed Hollow Point made by PPU. Sized to .356 and loaded over AA #2, I am getting an average velocity of 910 FPS from 3 different pistols (High Power, P226, and a Glock 19). They are accurate and feed with no issues. For expansion testing, I used gallon jugs of water. From 10 feet, the 158 penetrated through 3 jugs and was recovered in jug #4. Expansion: .474” Retained Weight: 157.2 grains.
Tried my hand at 32-20 for a HE this weekend. 115 grain cast over 4 grains of unique. No chrony results, but they shot to point of aim at 12 yards with no pressure issues. Keeping a fine old smith in the game.
